VMWare Server sucks!
Posted on July 8th, 2010 No commentsAt the office we use VMWare Server on a couple of different systems to run “appliance” based applications, the problem is every few months the Web interface suddenly screws up and all we get is 503 errors when attempting to login. I’ve searched high and low for the cause and solution to fix it, as far I can tell its occurs because the server randomly deletes or corrupts some important Tomcat related content. Then the only solution I’ve found to fixing this is completely uninstall VMWare Server, remove all the licenses, reboot the system and then re-install VMWare server.

Recipe: Scallop Salad
Posted on June 23rd, 2010 No commentsI got this recipe off the UKTV website (and modified it slightly) and it is absolutely delicious on it’s own as a starter, or as a side to a nice lemon-marinated salmon fillet.

Moving to Linux – Finding Alternative Software
Posted on June 10th, 2010 No commentsI’ve been using Linux on servers for years, since before I started learning to code. Finally, after something like 7/8 years I am almost fully confident in severing the ties to my highly underused Windows installation on my personal laptop, but there are still a couple of exceptions

Thoughts on the prime ministerial debate
Posted on April 29th, 2010 No commentsI’m sad to say it, but I found Steve Jobs’ Thoughts on Flash more interesting than the ‘political-point-scoring’ being broadcast on the BBC. I’m glad that Steve has spoken out and answered his critics so well, but I wish David and Gordon would follow Apple’s lead and get on with ‘leaving the past behind’. Political Branding I got a leaflet about Mark Hoban through the post this evening

Hang out on the South Bank
Posted on April 10th, 2010 No commentsI took a trip up to London last Saturday and wandered along the South Bank in search of some good food. Sadly, there are surprisingly few inviting restaurants on that side of the river… In amongst the crowd, silly joggers and beams of fantastically warm sunshine, we came across Daniel Waples playing his hang. It’s an incredible instrument
