How to visualise your webserver logs as a map of user progression through your site content
Posted on March 8th, 2010 No commentsI love web stats and for a long time now (last 4 years or so) I have been analysing web stats with Google Analytics, which is probably one of the best apps for assessing basic stats (provided the web browser being used support javascript). For the most accurate stats I also use AWStats (which has provided great results for the last 7 years) Within the last year or two I have also employed the use of ClickTale for the analysis of user interaction

Eclipse, why do you make installing plugins so hard?
Posted on September 10th, 2009 No commentsEclipse PDT and Zend Studio are really nice editors for general use. Once they’re set up the way you want, they work mostly fine

Filling In Forms – Increasing Your Form Conversion
Posted on September 1st, 2009 No commentsThis kind of lazy form creation really annoys me. This company is trying to make users jump through hoops just so their form developers don’t have to bother reformatting the data into an acceptable format to them. It is absolutely critical when developing a form that must convert well to accept pretty much anything in the form.

Netbeans – A Couple of Pointers
Posted on June 4th, 2009 No commentsI’ve started giving Netbeans for PHP a try, considering everyone is saying how much better it is than Eclipse PDT . So far I’m very impressed at it’s simplicity and ease of use - which for the main tool a programmer uses day in an day out for at least 8 hours, is a very good thing. However I came across a couple of “issues” or teething problems rather, that thankfully with a short Google (sorry Bing…), I managed to find solutions for… Delaying the Code Completion Pop-up Here at Netbasic towers, we have very big projects.

JavaHL Not Available: Solution
Posted on May 7th, 2009 No commentsWhenever I tried to get CollabNet for Eclipse plugin working in Eclipse PDT, it always failed, yielding the error “Unable to load SVN client” upon any SVN activity. I did endless amounts of Googling to try to solve the problem, but always came to a brick wall. The big problem here is that Eclipse is just too new for Ubuntu - even Jaunty.

Having problems with Eclipse 3.4.2 + Proj-X Transfer?
Posted on April 14th, 2009 No commentsTransfer is currently incompatible with Eclipse v3.4.2, there seems to be a problem where it registers its menu items and settings page. I'll look into this as soon as I can, in the mean time please stick with v3.4.1 or remove Transfer until I can get this fixed.

Proj-x Transfer v1.1.1 is now available
Posted on February 22nd, 2009 No commentsI've finally got some free time to update Proj-x Transfer, so these are the changes in version 1.1.0 Keyboard shortcuts now work in the Editor, what ever your working on will be Queued/Uploaded/Downloaded. Added option to set PASV or ACTIVE transfer in the Project Properties. Fixed remote permissions bug which caused the plugin to constantly generate "Access Denied" error's and eventually crash.
