Styling the The TinyMCE Text Area
Posted on January 4th, 2010 No commentsThey guys who produce TinyMCE suggest, when initialising the editor, that you set the content_css parameter to be the url to your site’s CSS, so that the content you type into the text area is styled in the same way as the rest of your site.

Filling In Forms – Increasing Your Form Conversion
Posted on September 1st, 2009 No commentsThis kind of lazy form creation really annoys me. This company is trying to make users jump through hoops just so their form developers don’t have to bother reformatting the data into an acceptable format to them. It is absolutely critical when developing a form that must convert well to accept pretty much anything in the form.

Rant: Clickable Text and Checkboxes / Radios
Posted on August 27th, 2009 No commentsArgh, it really annoys me when web designers have check boxes or radio buttons that do not have clickable text attached.

Eye creams: take your time, do some research and get it right!
Posted on August 10th, 2009 No commentsThis is a sponsored post: I’ve been working with computers since I started university in 2001, and since then my eyesight has gradually been deteriorating!
I don’t wear glasses or lenses, even though I probably should, and the reason is that I just don’t want to be burdened with them. I can still see quite well even if I have to squint every now and then, but as soon as I get my eyes tested and have to start wearing specs, I’ll have no chance of being able to do stuff I take for granted at the min, like waking up at the weekend and grab a book to read. Filter Input, Escape Output
Posted on January 29th, 2009 No commentsI’m currently working on cleaning up the sanitisation and validation libraries in our homegrown framework at Netbasic here, and I was given an excerpt from the Php|architect’s Zend PHP 5 Certification Study Guide - the Security chapter. The summary section really outlines a key point you should always bear in mind when writing any PHP code… filter input, escape output . Filtering input is important, and it is recommended to do this using a “white list” approach - i.e.
