Agggh Quota Exceeded

Apparently though I've only used 3,341.70 MB of my 20,000.00 MB webspace I have hit my file quota limit of 262,144 files. And what notification did I get - none! Just a load of head scratching as to why my FTP uplaods were failing... Looks like I'm gonna have to delete some stuff..

Wordpress 2.8 automatic upgrade fails

I’ve been trying to update my wordpress blogs from various versions like 2.5 and 2.7 to the newest 2.8 for a while now, but was never able to do it automatically. Every time I pressed the “upgrade automatically” button, it told me it was downloading the latest file from Wordpress, but it never got any further than that. I logged in to my site using my FTP client and found a 0KB sized file called wordpress2.8.zip in the wp_content folder, so I thought I’d found the issue – maybe the script can’t actually download the file and save it to disk because of permissions

Usernameless and Passwordless logon with SSH

Fabien Potencier wrote a nice article that I’m going to try out - usernameless and passwordless logon with SSH on Linux systems. This tutorial is especially useful for those with 1and1.co.uk hosting where the username is something like u12345678, which I never bother remembering… First create the logon key. SSH to the server you wish to set up the connection to using your normal username and password

Subversion on 1and1 with Eclipse PDT

I’ve managed to set up a Subversion repository on my 1and1.co.uk hosting now, and even got it working directly from eclipse. This may or may not work on other shared hosts
